MacLeod Reckord was retained by the WSPRC as lead for the first stage of Miller Peninsula State Park and Sequim Bay State Park master planning effort. Miller Peninsula State Parks is 3,000 acres of forested undeveloped land with nearly 3 miles of saltwater shoreline located in Clallam County between Port Townsend and Sequim. The first stage of the planning effort focused on the visioning necessary to guide the planning and design for a facility of this magnitude and included public process, coordination with agencies and committees, mapping, concept development, financial assessment, and program development. Future program and uses for both Miller Peninsula and Sequim Bay State Parks were financially assessed and the potential for partnership opportunities with outside entities or private enterprise was explored. The potential program for this new park includes overnight accommodations, day-use facilities, trails and trailheads, infrastructure and support facilities as well as significant habitat and environmental restoration. Nearby Sequim Bay State Park includes camping and overnight accommodation, boat ramp, docks and moorage. All potential development and facilities will embrace green and sustainable design practices.
