This historic farm in Kitsap County has been actively managed since the early 1900’s and is an important part of the cultural heritage of the local community. MacLeod Reckord, implementing a public involvement process that was interactive and all-inclusive of the wide range of interests in the community, developed alternatives and a final concept plan for management and development of the 83-acre site. The site consists of large wetland areas, a salmon stream, scenic pasturelands, mature upland woodland, a remnant orchard, and large barn. The program includes working farm components that preserved pastureland and traditional farming practices, demonstration farm features for educational and interpretive benefit, and natural resource protection such as stream restoration, wetland enhancement and forest management, all linked with interpretive trails.
