Sundeleaf Park is a half-acre oasis in downtown Lake Oswego’s urban commercial district. Fronting on a busy State Highway to the east, the park reconnects the downtown with Lakewood Bay to the west. The park includes a lakefront promenade, courtyard, terrace, park structure with restrooms and storage, a new seawall, fireplace, and prominently featured rain garden providing a transition from urban streetscape to park. Tilted planes of lawn focus green open space toward views of the lake while timeless materials such as stone and copper, which echo the history and character of downtown Lake Oswego, are incorporated throughout the park. A low berm with planting and seat wall provides a buffer from the adjacent street as ’bridges’ over the rain garden create a gateway into the park. A terrace integrates the privately-owned historic theater building with the site and features a double-sided fire place for both theater patrons and park users.
