MacLeod Reckord provided master planning and full design services for a major new downtown public park and gathering space on Lake Oswego’s urban waterfront. The park is designed to provide visual and physical access to the City’s namesake lake, provide a space for gatherings, celebrations and events, and consolidate a property divided by major grade changes and an active rail line. The primary goal was to create a dramatic new place at the City’s core to foster a sense of place, attract private investment downtown, and secure the value of the existing public investment downtown. The final design included a one-block extension of a city street, art work and water features, plazas, gardens, pergola, restrooms, overlooks and connections to the City-owned lakefront. Millennium Plaza Park has become the City’s signature public space, and has served as the catalyst for renewal and redevelopment, both public and private, downtown.
