Prominently located in Old Town Mukilteo, this two-story community center is sited to capture panoramic sweeping views of Puget Sound and the active shipping lanes and ferry routes. The building and site are thoughtfully integrated with the use of floor to ceiling windows that reinforce natural daylight and views; exterior plazas that extend seamlessly from interior public gathering spaces; and building and site materials that are natural, warm, and complementary. The plazas, green space, and picturesque landscape weave together all interior and exterior community spaces providing a sense of grandeur that belies the built footprint of the building. The project features a senior/ adult room, the Point Elliot room (a multi-purpose performance space), arts and crafts room, childcare, state-of-the-art classrooms, game room and fitness center. The center is designed to meet LEED Silver standards.
As team members, MacLeod Reckord provided site analysis, alternative site plans and parking concepts, and final site design that includes recreational elements such as tennis courts and children’s play area as well as passive open space and connecting paths.
